Two weeks ago, I interviewed the men who make two of the coolest cars in the world: Horacio Pagani, who makes the Pagani Zonda, and Christian von Koenigsegg, who makes the Koenigsegg CCR/CCX. The interviews are now online in Hungarian at totalcar.hu. An English translation is on the way.

Which, when you consider that my auditory cortex behaves most of the time as if it’s equipped with an insulin pump modded to dish out LSD, is pretty damn impressive.

What makes it all the more special is that Pagani is only 6 years old with no race history, which is usually required for supercar cred, although they more than make up for these perceived shortcomings with extreme performance and outlandish design.

Only 25 Zonda F’s will ever be built and 16 are already gone. I’m slightly worried that they will all be gone by the time I become a millionaire.

The Zonda is clearly the more extreme of the two, with styling that hints at the first golden age of the supercar, when cars like the Miura and the GT40 were made. On the other hand, the Murciélago is an absolutely perfect evolution of Marcello Gandini’s original Countach design, a brutal, low-slung, menacing wedge.

I reckon the solution is along Jay Leno lines: buy both.
